More than 30, 000 foreign tourists including players are expected to visit the Odisha capital during World Cup.

Concept of the Parikrama Programme
•Cycle share for a day at a subscribing IOC retail outlet in Bhubaneswar in exchange for a valid government issued ID and a refundable amount of Rs 100 will be started.
•Cycle will need to be returned to the originating IOC retail outlet to obtain the ID and the refund.  
•A nominal fee of Rs 50 will be charged for usage beyond 6 hours to encourage cycle availability.
•As more retail outlets subscribe to the programme, the option to return cycles at any retail outlet of cyclist’s choice will be explored.

Bhubaneswar will experience its second Raahgiri Day on this sunday (24th Jan 2015). It'll be again a sunday when the Janpath will be ruled by people indulged in various jovial and playful activities amidst complete absence of vehicular traffic. Inviting all the denizens of Bhubaneswar again to pour in large numbers and make the 2nd Raahgiri Day a remarkable one.

Raahgiri Day is a street event which provides citizens with the opportunity to reclaim their streets, connect with their community, celebrate their city and therefore reclaim their lives. Raahgiri Day is a street event for citizens to play different kind of games on road, people can show their Performance on road and also can promote art and culture.

On 17th January 2015, Bhubaneswar experienced it's first Raahgiri Day.  One whole section of Janpath was cordoned off for citizens, for 3-4 hours in the morning, to come together in large numbers and use the street for recreation that promotes health, well-being, fitness, togetherness and joy.

FREE JOB ORIENTED TRAINING PROGRAMME (Residential) at CIPET, Campus-II, Bhubaneswar



Encouraged by the success of pilot batch , Infosys Foundation is happy to announce the commencement of 2nd batch  of  ‘Skill development Training’ with CIPET (Central Institute Of Plastics Engineering & Technology).  The training will be conducted in two phases each phase accommodating 120 students. Adivasi Mela is a week long annual fair of tribal people of Bhubaneswar, organized at the Adivasi exhibition ground in the month of January. This ancient and colorful festival showcases the art, artifacts, culture, tradition, and music of the tribal people of Orissa. The Adivasi exhibition is the only one of its kind in the country. The stalls at the Adivasi mela displays and sells various handicrafts items made by the tribal people. Several cultural, musical and dance programs are conducted as a part of the fair.

On the eve of Republic Day, 5 km Mini Marathons are being concurrently organized at 54 cities across the country on 24th January (Sunday), to suffuse patriotism. In Bhubaneswar, as many as 42 organizations and institutions have joined hands to organize this event, with a tagline ‘I for India’. The format eliminates any competition, ensuring free participation. While in most of the cities, the event is being organized by armed forces, in Bhubaneswar, the Govt of India has assigned the responsibility to Nalco. This all-inclusive event is being organized with the active support from different Public Sector Undertakings, Corporate Houses, Colleges, Universities, Schools, Hospitals, Clubs and Forums, along with thousands of volunteers. The mega event is expected to witness participation of around 10,000 people, including noted sportsperson and celebrities. The Mini Marathon in Bhubaneswar will be flagged off by His Excellency Dr. S.C. Jamir, Hon’ble Governor of Odisha from Janata Maidan at 7.30 am this Sunday and will conclude at Kalinga Stadium, via 120 Battalion. The Commissionerate of Police, the District Administration and Odisha Sports Authority are actively supporting the event to make it a success. Besides, the organizers have decided to clean up the venue and the track soon after the event.

Sisir Saras 2016, the Annual National level exhibition of rural Handicraft and Handloom products, will be held at Exhibition Ground Bhubaneswar from 1st to 13th Jan 2016. The fair is organized by Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS), Odisha Livelihoods Mission, Panchayati Raj Department and sponsored by Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. 

Such exhibitions are instrumental in providing market linkage to rural artisans who are struggling to find a better market and remunerative price for their products. ORMAS has been hosting exhibitions under the banner of Sisir Saras, Gramshree Mela and Pallishree Mela across the country to provide a platform for rural artisans to showcase and sell their products besides interacting with urban consumers to facilitate better trade ties. 

A large number of rural craftsmen and Self Help Groups are participating in the event. Apart from Odisha, artisans from 25 other States are showcasing their products.


Everyday evening there will be cultural programmes to entertain the visitors. Also, there will be food stalls with a wide variety of foods.

The special attraction of the exhibition last year (SISIR SARAS 2015) was the metal work products from Madhya Pradesh, wood crafts from Tamil Nadu, bamboo crafts from North-East States, Madhubani paintings from Bihar, Dhokra from Chhattisgarh, shawls and carpets from Jammu and Kashmir and kantha stitch from West Bengal. Workshops on designing and packaging of products was also organised for artisans to enhance the marketability of their products.
